Most PDF tools force a tradeoff: upload sensitive documents to a third party, install heavyweight desktop software, or jump between single-purpose utilities. I wanted the convenience of an online tool without making privacy or clarity the user's problem, while still supporting demanding workflows such as OCR, Office conversion, redaction, signatures, batch processing, and reusable automations.

I designed and built mypdf as a focused React and TypeScript PWA where the document itself stays central to every task. PDF manipulation, rendering, AES-256 protection, OCR, Office export, and ZIP creation all run on the user's device, so document contents never need to reach an application server. The finished workspace covers everyday tools alongside smart extraction and persistent local automation, works offline after its first load, and uses clear progress, preview, keyboard, and screen-reader states so users can verify a result before downloading it.
